Bumbo Growth Chart - 9 months

Halloween is a good day to turn Nine Months!!! Plus it makes for a GREAT Bumbo Growth Chart photo!! So here is my official photo for Nine Months...

And here is my chart so you can watch the growth... I think you can click on these (any image really) to make them bigger.

Halloween 2.0

My First Halloween!!! I'm so excited!!! Not only did I get a Giraffe costume, but I got a Spider Bib, a Pumpkin shirt and Pumpkin socks!! I got a lot of people who love me!!! And here is yet another photo of me in my Giraffe Costume... This photo was taken for the purpose of the Bumbo Growth Chart, but later another one was taken that was deemed cuter...
And what do you do on Halloween, well you Trick or Treat of course!!!!! I only went to two houses... Here I am knocking on Grant Kathy's door, but no one was home. I only cried for .32665 seconds though. Then my mom called her and found out we'd see them later. Then we went down to Great Grandpa Vencil and Zelpha. Everyone said how cute I looked!!Remember I said I had until Halloween to learn to walk?? That date would put me ahead of schedule... Well, I haven't walked by myself yet, but one of my favorite things to do is walk when holding someone's hands. Grant Kathy and Katee came up to our house tonight for a bit and I showed off my mad walking skills to Katee who hadn't seen them yet. Here's a video of it, it's really dark for some reason. So squint your eyes!!

Katee was really amazing that I was walking so good!! But I think she was more impressed that I reached up for Grant Kathy to pick me up!!! I found out that if I lift my arms in someone's general direction, they almost always say, "Oooooh!" and then proceed to pick me up.

Costumes are fun. I think I will enjoy Halloween in years to come!

Halloween 1.2

While taking more photos with Jackson at our Halloween dinner party, I dressed as a Giraffe and him as a Horse, I decided to take a break and teach Jackson how to play Pattycake. Normally, other people say the words and I just clap. So I started to clap, but Jackson just looked at me. At least I elicited a response from Rachel! Since Jackson was being unresponcive to me, I thought I would try a little trick I picked up from watching the TV show called "Friends". In an episode, the character Rachel was showing Joey how she gets a guy to notice her. And I tried one... I crawled away, then stole a quick glance back to see if Jackson was watching me go away. SCORE!!! He WAS watching me!!!
Finally Jackson had enough of his Horse costume and had to get out of it. Unlike my costume, his didn't have leg holes...and he was slightly too long for it. So he wanted out of that Horsefest. And he wasn't too happy that my mom was not being quicker in taking the costume off. He was just bawling... I became quite concerned about him, so I crawled over to try and comfort him...
After he was finally comfortable and calmed down laying in his play gym, I crawled over to teach him some tricks of the trade of play gyms. I had mastered mine before the old people finally put it in the top of my closet. Here is Rachel and my boyfriend Jackson. Cute pair, don't you think?

Halloween 1.1

To help celebrate Halloween, my boyfriend Jackson (who shares a birthday with my daddy!!) invited me over to play! His mom and my mom have been best friends since college, even roommates one year! They live about an hour away from us, so we don't get to see them as much as we'd like, but I enjoy hanging out with Jackson every chance I get!!

Since we were getting together for Halloween, we both donned our lovely costumes. Of course I was a beautiful giraffe and he was a studly horse! Because I've got almost six months on him, he is not able to sit up like my graceful self, so his mom had to hold him up. And since I am learning about noses and attempting to touch everyone's nose, I had to point out to him where his nose is on his face...

As much as Jackson's Dad and my Mom were trying to make us both smile, we were determined not to smile. Little did the crazy adults know, but earlier I had warned Jackson that if we were both stone cold expressionless, maybe not so many photos would be had. I was wrong. Those cameras by Gabe and Shelley just never stopped!!!
So I got bored of posing for photos and decided to go find my own adventure. Where should I go? Hmmm.... I looked over Rachel's legs and sure enough!!!! Treasure!!!!!
So I instantly took off in that direction...
Where I befriended McCayla!!! She's nice, she even kissed me right on my face!

Halloween 1.0

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!! Grandma bought me a Giraffe costume, so here I am to proudly show it off! I may be the shortest giraffe to walk about God's green Earth, but I do think I am probably the cutest! You agree, right Mom??Hey, what's this? I have a tail?!
So much for that, I want to get back to my new favorite thing...crawling!!!

Call me Teacher

Class is in session! Today's topic - READING! We'll be learning about simple words and showing their photo for association. Only one pupil signed up for my class, but I know she'll be attentive. She's a good student. Hopefully she did her homework last night by reading the pages I assigned to her...

Bumbo Recall

My world is heartbroken... My precious Bumbo chair has been recalled... Don't worry anyone, they aren't taking it away from me, they are just sending me a new warning label to put on the bottom of it.

Apparently, 28 babies have fallen out of their Bumbo chairs receiving serious head trauma. These babies were placed in their Bumbo on an elevated surface like a table or countertop, despite the fact the warning on the box says to use on ground level only.

Now, I will admit, if you look through this blog, you will find photographic proof that my parents did not obey this warning label. There are lots of times I was sitting in my Bumbo on the counter while Mom cooked or on the Dining Room Table so Dad could feed me. But they are always right beside me.

And as the recall warns, I did fall out of my Bumbo once. I arched my back and pushed with my legs and out I went. Luckily I was on the soft carpeted floor, and I didn't even cry, I just crawled away to my toys... Mom was right beside and shocked that I could weasel myself out of the chair!

If you want more info on the recall, here are two websites:

Pumpkin Patch

The other day while dad was busy working at the Home Show down at the Convention Center, Mom and I went to the local Pumpkin Patch!! She wanted to take some photos of me, but I wasn't too keen on the idea. There were lots of kids running around and I just wanted to watch them. Plus it was pretty cold! So mom didn't get too many smiles out of me... She said she might try again next weekend....... Greeeeeeeeeat. Did you sense my enthusasiam? I just LOVE my photo being taken. It's written all over my face in this photo...My mom's friend Jay draws cartoon characters, and one of them is named Applejack. Well, this pumpkin was photoshopped with Applejack's face!!!! Mom told me to act surprised to see a face on the pumpkin. Like my acting job? I really look scared, don't I? I think it was an Oscar worthy performance!
Then we came upon this large pile of pumpkins. Mom tried to set me down in the middle of them, but all I wanted to do was tough the stems.
Then I tried to make a fast get away, but I noticed the camera and pretended like I was just smiling for her. Mom never knew the difference. If only I had a few more seconds, then I could have beat her back to the car where she never takes photos of me. Alas, I heard the words, "Ready to go home?" So I smiled. Yes, I know, it doesn't look like a smile, but that's my smile right now.

On my own

The clock is ticking... Faster than some might want (all the grown ups who think I am growing up too fast) and the pressure is on to WALK. So far I feel like all my developments have been advanced or right on target. I rolled over early, I sat on my own right on time, and now I'm pulling myself up to a standing position right on time. The guides all say babies can start walking by nine months. I hit that mark in two weeks. So my chances of walking before schedule look slim.

So it's time to cowboy up. No more play time for me. I'm hard core. So today, I decided it was time to stand on my own. Little by little right? It's all a confidence thing now. I have the muscle strength to do it, I just need to DO IT.

So today, I took the risk. I let go.

Hey, what do you know? I can do it!!! I was standing without holding on to anything!!! So what do I do? I looked at mom and clapped! Which of course made me fall over. If you fall off a horse, do you get back on or do you hide in the barn (cough, cough MOM cough, cough). I got back on that horse! So up I went again... I did this over and over! And sure enough I was able to stand on my own! By this time, my mom caught on what I was doing and was sitting in front of me cheering me on.

At one point, I started to fall forward. But instead of reaching out to Mom, I moved one of my feet to catch my fall! And I stayed upright!!! I looked up to Mom, but she said I couldn't count it as walking. She said I just stopped my fall. I argued that it was walking and that she doesn't know what she is talking about.

I'll try again tomorrow. I got too weeks to be in the "advanced" placement. Positive thinking, I can do it. I can do it. I can do it.

Busy Weekend 3.1

Blogspot has corrected their problem and now I can in photos again. So see the posts below as I added in photos...

Remember the game I invited??? The one where I play with my binkie? Well, that video has been such a hit here is more of it..... Enjoy!

And one more part... If it was one long video, I would have sent it in to America's Funniest Video's! I could have won us $10,000!

Busy Weekend 3.0

(PHOTOS ADDED IN NOW!)
Sunday during the fall has been renamed to Chiefs Day. Clearly, just look at me!
I donned my LJ jersey, Chiefs Turtleneck, even Chiefs Socks! (all items bought for me by different people who love me - Uncle Eric, Grammy and Grandpa respectively). I was all geared up for the game, I could just FEEL they were going to pull out the win.
I expressed my concern and fears about Huard's quaterback skills to Uncle Eric who had magically shown up at the house overnight. But he didn't seem as worried about the game as I did...

Soon it was time to head inside to watch the festivities. Uncle Eric left to drive back to Bronco land, but I curled up on the couch with Dad and Uncle Myles.

Eventually, I got a little bored with the blowout game, so I invented my own game. It's called "Battle of the Binkie" (Note it's even a Chief's Binkie!) Bascially it's a game of tug of war between my teeth and my arm, using the Binkie as my rope. This video will not win an Oscar for cinamatography by any long shot... SOMEONE couldn't stop giggling at my game, thus resulting in a "Saving Private Ryan" style of video...

And eventually, that got boring, too. And the yawns started...

Busy Weekend 2.1

(PHOTOS ADDED NOW!!!!)
Saturday just kept getting better and better! I played some in the morning, then went down for my mid-morning nap. Two more red heads had invaded my house while I slept!! Grandma and Uncle Myles live in the flesh!! I couldn't have been estatic than if it was snowing outside!
Of course I had to show off my new toy to Grandma. "If you push the green circle, it plays drums!" I explained to her with ease.
Like my new outfit? Grandma got it for me, of course. It reads, "MY GRANDMA ROCKS!" The pants are a little long, but I love it.
After some play time, we all went out to eat for dinner. While there, I had my first taste of bagette bread. Not bad, not bad! Can I have some more?

Busy Weekend 2.0

After getting my new toy, I stayed up WAY too late on Friday night playing. It's okay, Dad was up late playing his toy too. I think he calls it Halo 3... My mom was involved in her new toy, too. She mentioned it was books by James Patterson. So Friday night was a simple night at home playing with our toys. Which leads to some sleeping in on Saturday morning.... Huh? No wait, I don't sleep in!!!

Hello? Anyone else up yet?
It took awhile for the big red heads to finally crawl out of bed. At least I wasn't crying. I just make my play noises and eventually they come in to rescue me from this chamber they call a crib.

Busy Weekend 1.0

Last weekend was so wonderful!!! I had such a great time. And it all started with the generosity of my cousin Taylor!! She has outgrown some of her baby toys and decided to pass them down to me!! I hope one day I can be as kind and pass them down to someone, too!

Here's a video of me playing with one of my new toys!

It's a _______!

Tuesday, October 16th is SONOGRAM day for my first cousin!!!! I can't wait to see if my Aunt Leah is having a son or a daughter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My mom drew this on our chaulkboard in the kitchen.

This past weekend was some good times! Grandma and Uncle Myles were in town all weekend, my Uncle Eric came up for one last visit, Miss Stephanie and Mr Brian came up for a visit, and the Chiefs won again!! I'll have loads of photos posted soon. Right now, I'm off to watch Dancing with the Stars and then Heroes!! Still trying to compile the list of who I think the Original Heroes are that will be dying and who is killing them off! Where in the world was Sylar and how will he get out of there?

Least favorite food poll...

Last week I had a poll on the side bar asking you which was my least favorite food... I offered four suggestions: peas, bananas, spinach and prunes. That list contains my two favorite food and the two foods I like the least. One of which, I refuse to eat at all!

I'll start with my favorites: Spinach and Prunes!!!!! I love both of these!! (even if they both help fill my diaper with nasty stenches). And these two options got the most votes for my least favorites.

The second least favorite: peas. I will eat them if it's all that offered to me, but I really don't like them. Please find ANYTHING else to offer me.

And that makes BANANAS the most digusting food in the world. This verifies the fact I am related to Katee, as she hates bananas as well. Anything with banana in it does not stay in my mouth. That nasty yellow fruit should just stay in that peel!

T-Rex having ME for lunch!

Earlier this week, my mother and I decided to meet up with Uncle Eric for some lunch. He's still in town filling in at another restaurant in his company until this weekend. So we wanted to see him at least one more time before he went back to the Mountainous terrain of Colorado. (He can't stay at our house because he's too allergic to my pets Mom and Dad...... I mean Turk and Ophelia).

So we met up and ate at Yardhouse; I enjoyed my puffs and some jar baby food while the two redheads ate their meal. After we were all stuffed to the brim, we decided to walk around the outdoor shopping center, which was quite empty for a Wednesday noon hour. Soon we learned why no one was lurking around...

A T-Rex was loose!!! He was on the prowl and he had ME in his sight!!! Eric was trying to pose with me for a photo, but that T-Rex was sneaking around the corner!!! I was trying to warn Uncle Eric to no avail....

That darned monster kept creeping closer and closer! And Uncle Eric seemed like he didn't even notice it coming! I was so nervous, that I think I poo'd a little...

"Hey, Sis, I think she just poo'd," Eric said as he wrinkled his nose.

I was hoping my stench would drive the T-Rex away, but instead I think it became more interested in me! So it tip toed ever CLOSER! And yet, Mom and Uncle Eric were not concerned in the least! PEOPLE!!! A GIANT DINOSAUR IS CLOSING IN US FAST!!! LET'S GET OUT OF HERE!!!!

So what happens next? The worst thing EVER. Uncle Eric decides to hold me up in the air!!! WHAT AM I? BAIT?!?!

HUH? This thing is fake?!?!?!? Oh dear goodness. Why didn't anyone tell me that? At least I look cute in my matching sweater and hat...

We got a Climber!

We've got a Climber here!!!! Ever since I learned to pull myself up to a standing position on my own, I want to climb anything!!!! Even the kitchen cabinets! Okay, okay, so this photo was staged slightly, but I do enjoy climbing!

Chiefs Game Day

If you know my family at all, you know we are BIG Chief's fans. Sunday's activities revolve around what time the game is.... Granted, my dad might yell at the TV and mom might fall asleep... But we still call ourselves fans.

And they are starting me off early as a fan too. I already own a Chief's cheerleader dress (from Grandpa and Uncle Myles), I own a sleeveless Chiefs dress (from Grammy), a Chief's turtleneck (from Grammy) and just the other day my Uncle Eric bought me my first Jersey! (Also a Chiefs binkie and holder!). So I'm ready for all the Chiefs Madness!
Stupid Vikings, get them off the screen! I'm frustrated with them after that play!
It's 3rd and 9 and Huard is preparing to pass! I can't take it, I can't watch!!!!

Random

This post has NOTHING to do with me, so I am not sure why I am posting it. But as you can all tell, my dear mother is something of a nut. Yes, tis plain obvious. But I am actually referring to her being a photo nut. She loves to venture out in the world with her camera. She does engagement photos, senior photos, and enjoys taking my photo. She's never done a child photo shoot other than me, but would like to journey that direction.

But one of her favorite types of photography is the random photos. The lone tree in the morning fog. A cow in the middle of the road. Or even maybe some empty chairs at a stadium....

Puffs Plus

In my new happy world of growing up, I have advanced to feeding myself. There is this wonderful invention by Gerber called Puffs. Right now I get to eat those, but my parents said something about moving to the cheaper version soon - Cherrios. Mom said I would probably like Cherrios better anyway.

As you can see, I get quite excited when the Puffs come my way....

And then I become a happy eater.

No Paci

I want you all to know, I'm a big girl now!

I've gone to bed the last couple of nights without my paci!!!

High Chair

I've heard of this contraption called a high chair, but I haven't ever seen one or sat in one. So far life has just been the Bumbo for me. I've always sat in the Bumbo for meals, right on the table with mom and dad. Sometimes even at restaurants or at friends/family houses. I asked my dad once why I don't have a high chair and he said something about how they registered for one that matched our kitchen wall paint, but it was really expensive and no one bought it. Then when they saw I did so good in the Bumbo, they never went and bought it for me.

But then one day, my 3rd cousin twice removed (or something crazy like that - I'll just call her my cousin!) Taylor decided she was too big for her high chair. So her mom Kim asked my mom if I would like it. Of course I would, my mom told her!! And some months ago, my Grammy bought some fabric to make placemats for my mom, and had some leftover cloth. So she said she could re-cover the high chair to match the kitchen!

So here's my first photo in my new high chair!!!!

So far I like it. I mean, who wouldn't? Anytime I'm in it, I get food!! Can't get better than that! Bring on the food!!!!!

Blue does not equal Boy

So the other day I was sporting my blue teeshirt that Grant Kathy bought for me in Puerto Vallarta while I was still in mommies belly. As a family we went out to eat at Panera Bread, then hit up Best Buy and Circuit City looking for a new "toy". In the range of two hours of being out and about shopping and eating I was called "Handsome" several times. Isn't that a BOY adjective? And I was called "he" several times, too...

BLUE DOES NOT EQUAL BOY.

I think I look cute in blue. Brings out the color in my eyes (not in that photo above, but if you saw me in person you would agree.)

No more army crawl!

This was my "army crawl" I perfected several weeks ago...

But as you can see, it's no more army crawl for me! I'm up on hands and knees baby! Still slow going, but I have no doubt I will be racing Nascar soon enough!

Bumbo Growth Chart - 8 months

Well, it's official... I'm 8 months old now! And that means time for a new Bumbo Growth Chart photo!

This first photo is the one going down in the books to record my growth but....

This is the one my mom will always remember!!!
I can't remember now the exact cause of my excitement, but it was something great, huh?!

And here is a little photoshop rendition of my Bumbo Growth Chart to this point... To view it large I think you can click on the image. I've grown a lot, huh?!
