Perfect Room

Warning, this post is heavy on the photos....but I want you all to feel like you are taking a tour of my bedroom with me! In my opinion, I have the perfect room! It has everything a little girl could dream of...at this age at least. I have a place to sleep, a place to be rocked, a place to get a clean diaper, and a place that gives me clean clothes. See, everything I need!

Before I was born, this used to be the TV room, and it was decorated in all my Grandpa Jim's John Deere stuff! Before that, a LONG time ago before Mom and Dad bought this house from Grandma and Grandpa, this used to be Uncle Eric's bedroom. There is one window, and outside the window is a ledge (typical 1970's architecture). I bet Uncle Eric snuck out this window several times, and he'll have to give me all the scoop so I will know the best techique for when I get older!

But now this is my bedroom. Dad put in a new window for me (cause Uncle Eric's leaked whenever it rained), we got new carpet, a new door (but ask my Grandpa Jim why there is already a hole in it!), new woodwork and a new closet opening! My dad is great! He's really handy, a great person to have around in case I ever act like Grandpa and put a hole in something... My mom is the crafty one, she painted the room a soft green color. Oh! And my Grandma Paulette made the window and closet curtains for me! All the colors came straight from my bedding set, which is Noah's Ark in soft pastel colors! Isn't it pretty?

It came with this mini quilt, which my mom hung up on the wall. Maybe when I get older I will be able to wrap up in it. The bed set came with a diaper hanger thing, a sheet, a valance, a bumper pad for the crib and a dust ruffle. The next picture shows some of those things. I also have the matching floor rug in front of my changing table.

My room has a lot of items that have meaning behind them. For example, my crib is not new, but it's very precious to me. It originally belonged to my Cuzaunt Katee and Cuzuncle Ethan! And you can see a stack of beautiful blankets I have received, many of them handmade with love for me! Also inside my crib is my newest stuffed animal from Vermont Teddy Bear Company. It has a bib around it's next that is embroided...but the special part is what's on the bib... I'm not telling here what it says, but it's something that will always make me laugh and love my Grandpa Mark! Under my bed are baskets filled with all my rattles and toys! I'm still a little too young for most of them, but sometimes Mom gets them out and tries to play with me.

Remember how I said my dad is a great handyman? Well, he built my changing table/dresser and my night stand!!!! I love them so much!! They are the same color wood as the crib, and they don't look "baby-ish" so I will be able to use these later in life, too! My dresser has lots of drawers, so I can stash lots of goodies in them!

Hanging just above my changing table is a plaque that one of my mommy's friends had made for me! I wanted to post a picture of this special gift because literally everytime I am layed down to be changed, I stare at this plaque and I smile away! I love that Lion King. No, not THAT Lion King, but a King Lion! He matches my room so perfect and I love staring at him! I smile everytime. Both Mom and Dad are fascinated by my love for this plaque!

Here is the top of my night stand my dad made for me. Eventually it will go next to a bed when I outgrow the crib. But for right now, it houses all my books inside and the top has all my precious gifts! These gifts all mean to much to me and I will always think of you when I see your gift to me! Mom said after I start walking, she might have to put some of these things higher so I don't break them though.

Like most baby rooms, I have a rocking chair in my room. The wood is the same as the crib and my night stand. But what makes this rocking chair special is that it belonged to my late Great Grandma Edith. She passed away in 1997, but she used to babysit my mom when Grandma went to work. I guess this chair sat right by the big window in their house and she was always sitting it in looking out the window. She would hold my mom and rock her to sleep while singing children's bible songs. Also, since the arms are pretty wide, together, they would roll out play doh into "snakes" and see who could make the longer snake. My mom promised that her and I could do that one day too. My Grandma Paulette made the purple cushions for the chair special for my room. I've been lucky enough to be rocked to sleep in this chair already by both my grandma's.

As you can see in the picture below, my closet is VERY full of clothes!! What's special about this is because that is only because of your generosity! My parents have bought very little clothes! Most of this all came from all of you! Thank you so much!!!

I have a shelf that runs the length of my room and since I am still pretty small, my dad has been putting all my toys and stuffed animals up there for now. The shelf is getting very full!!! I can't wait until I am bigger so I can play with all of them!!

Well, that's my room! My mom bought a three foot tall paper mache "D" to hang in my room, but she is still painting it up and getting it all decorated. So it's not up in my room yet, but hopefully it will be soon.

I met Olivia!!!!

I finally met Olivia, my muse for starting this blog! She has her own blog, you can click on the link on the left to view hers, and so I wanted to start one too. But her parents are Campus Ministers down at University of Arkansas so I have never actually met Olivia. Her daddy and my daddy were roommates in college...

Well, Olivia and her mommy stopped by my house to hang out with my mommy and me! Olivia is getting ready to turn the big ONE, so she was telling me all the juicy secrets about birthdays and how you get tons of stuff! Man, I can't wait until my first birthday.

Olivia had been traveling all day, so she was so happy to be out of the car! She was moving and a shaking, so much so that my mom had a hard time getting a good photo of her. Her grandma had made her a cute new dress and now I want one like it!

Sleep = Good

I have realized something very important in life...sleep is good. My bed is even better. Well, my bassinet at least. I have a bed in my room, but I've only slept in it once. My bassinet is right next to Mom and Dad's bed, so when my paci/binkie falls out, they are right there to put it back in. This week I realized that if I stay up ALL day, then I can sleep all night! I'm a big kid! So I stopped taking naps and now I sleep the same time as Mom and Dad! Mom seems really happy about this for some reason. In fact, this morning, she actually woke up before I did! She said something about how I had slept ten hours, and she seemed shocked at that. All I did was sleep.. What's so great about that?

All caught up!!

Yeah!! With the addition of this post, I will be caught up to the present!! So when you get back here, you won't have five or six new posts to read, but just the newest one from that day. I hope to post daily, but more than likely I might get lathargic and just post when big things happen in my life. But then again, my life is so exciting with road trips, shopping sprees, day care, and the everyday mundane habits of life - so I might get to post daily! We'll see! I said lathargic. See, I really am smart. Uh oh, not humble anymore...I'm going to be bald forever.

Summer Dresses

Spring is in full swing now, and along with that comes summer dresses!! I have a ton of them, but I'm still too small for them. But my Grandpa Mark bought me one that is small enough, so two days ago, I wore it! Don't I just look cute?

Wow....I have a big head. That photo really shows it off. My arms look so short. Let me try to stretch them out so mom can take another photo. Mom, where are you? I'm stretching! Man, why is it when I want her around to take a photo, she's not around. But when I am playing on the couch with Dad, she's right there on top of me? At least I have really pretty eyes. Just look how blue they are! And eventually, when I am not bald anymore, I'll have pretty red hair like my parents! Okay, look down and see, here I am smiling away...

Because Dad was doing this to me....

Smile Fever

So in this last week I really started to smile when people spoke to me. I decided the rough and tough face was the thing of yesterday. My parents just love that I am starting to smile! Mom will purposely torment me to get more smiles out of me. I guess you could say I have smile fever! When I smile, everyone gets so happy! I might start to smile more! Dad gets so happy when I smile!!

Here is the first ever photo of me smiling...I'm sure many many many many more are to follow.

Uh oh, it's starting to fade....

And it's gone.

But after I smile a lot, my mom does reward me. I guess I lied in the last post. They do reward me for doing tricks. This time she gave me a toy to play with. And I'm smart enough that I am learning how to play! I can actually focus in my attention on items now, and I'm fascinated with studying items placed in front of me. I love mirrors and my hands the most! Oh and ceiling fans!

Bald Women!

"Bald Women, should have humble. Bald women, should have been smarter. Bald women, you're bald, because your bald!" Hahaha! My last post with me rolling over really showed how bald I am. And in the mid 90's, there was a song about bald women. Then in the book of Isaiah, it talks about bald women... I'm humble. Seriously. I'm humble. Lord let me grow hair. I promise I am humble!

Rolled over again!!!

Last Tuesday, March 20, I made Mom and Dad late to bible study because I was showing off my mad rolling over skills. Mom had layed me down to pick out a cute outfit and I rolled over while she wasn't looking. She turned in time to catch the end and hollered for Dad to come in. They made me do it again and again. Then they decided to go get the camera. Mom made one video where I never rolled over. I was just messing with them because I saw the camera. Then Dad tricked me...he was over on the side and got me to roll over for him while Mom captured it on video! They are sneaky... Anyway, I will post both videos...the one where I almost did and the one were I really did. They gave me a workout though, making me roll over and over. Now I know how Ophelia feels when they teach her new tricks...at least she gets a treat when she rolls over!

I've been told some of you can't see the video...I'm so sorry...please keep trying! It always works for me!

Uncle Myles

Before leaving Des Moines to head back to Missouri, I needed some more time to chill with some family. So we headed over to Grandpa's house so I could hang out with Great Grandma some more, and eat some pizza with Grandpa. Uncles Myles came along for the ride and I am sure glad he did, because I like to cuddle in his lap! He can come visit anytime!!

Plus, they all gave me a few more presents, including a special Vermont Teddy Bear!!!

Nightime at Meani's

After the shower was over, we retired back to Grandma Marlene's house. There we opened up one more big gift...my pack -n- play! We actually got a different one first that had lots of giraffes and monkey's on it. But after Dad got it out, it was broken. So we went back to Babies R Us, and all the boxes looked damaged. So Mom and Dad picked out a different one that's chocolate brown with all these "G"s in different colored boxes! It's got a built in bassinet at top and even a changing station. Why do I get the feeling I will be inside this contraption a lot over the next couple of years????

Grandma's friend Marita had driven in for the big shower as well and she came over to hang out a bit more. Her and I got some loving time while hanging out in the kitchen! Together we sang and danced cheek to cheek! I was about to fall asleep before we heard the whining of a big black jealous creature........................

"Shower"ed with Love!

On Saint Patrick's Day, I got to experience my first baby shower!! I attended some already, but I was seperated from all the fun by a womb... This was the first one I really got to experience, and I loved every moment of it! I was passed all around to everyone and beleive it or not, I don't think I cried once! I can't decide if I want to show my smile yet or not, but I think on this day I let a few slip out. But I was too quick even to let mom catch it on camera. Actually, I think Jayne had the camera most of the time, so I was too quick for her!

Like I said, I was passed all around and I loved it! Even the young girls Jade and Maddy got in on the action. I can't remember if Lauren held me or not, but if she did, the camera missed it.

Grandma Meani made all the food, except for the cake. But it was so good! And she's so creative, look at this veggie tray...she even cut the cucumbers into hearts! That's because she loves me so much. Just look at how happy she looks!

Before the shower started, Dad, Grandpa and Uncle Myles were hanging around to spend some time with me. Everyone loves me...what can I say?

During the shower, while I was being passed around all the tables and getting to meet all the cousins and relatives, my mom was opening lots of good things for me! I got several adorable keepsake items, as well as a lot of fun clothes! Here are a couple of my new outfits!!

Aunty Leah, I am so sorry I missed you. I love you and cannot wait to meet you!!!!!!

Meet the Parents

Meet the Parents...er...Great Grandparents that is! Time for road trip #2!! Des Moines, Iowa, here I come!!!! On Saint Patrick's Day weekend, we all piled into the Suburban again to head North. This time there was no snow...well, I guess we did get a surprise couple of inches on Saturday morning, but it didn't affect travel any.

Once we got to Des Moines, I got to meet all of dad's family!! Well, all except my Aunt Leah who was really sick and didn't want to get me sick. I'll get to meet her on Easter when she comes down here to visit me! But other than Aunty Leah, I got to meet most everyone!

Two that really wanted to meet me were my two Great Grandma's Heggen and Churchill! Aren't they both lovely? And they love me so much!! Grandma Mary is holding me and then Grandma Churchill is waving at me. I'm thankful I got to meet and love on both of them!

Working out

After seeing the nearly naked photo shoot of myself, I decided it was time to work those fat rolls off. So I had mom dig out the gym membership her work bought for me. Thank you H.I.M! My gym is amazing! I can really get a workout on this thing! And kick, kick, kick, round house! Occasionally, I even get a punch or two in there! Keep this up every day and I'll be long and lean, ready for the catwalks of Milan!

Extreme Makeover

Reality shows have taken over TV....what happened to the good ol days of cartoons and muppets? Now it's all reality TV... Thankfully my mom loves reality television as much as I do. And that includes the show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition! The week of March 11th, they came to Kansas City to make over the Jacobo Family! That sounds like I know them, but I don't... It's a family of 12 people living in a 912 square foot house! Geez lou-eez!! I feel sorry for those kids! Makes me almost feel selfish for having my own pretty room. But Ty came to the rescue and gave them their own rooms too!

The house they rebuilt is only about 15 minutes from my house, and since mom was still on her maternity leave, I begged her to take me! So each afternoon when Grant got out of school, the three of us headed down there! One day we missed Michael by seconds, and another day we heard Paige was running around, but we never saw her pink hard hat. Then on Wednesday, we hit pay dirt...ED! He was there filming a whole sequence and we got to see it!

I'll post a photo of Ed and another of Grant Kathy holding me in front of the worksite. You can see the last bit of demo happening on the demo day behind us!

As you can see in the photo above, I'm becoming slightly addicted to binkies, or paci's, or pacifiers. Whatever you want to call them....I LOVE THEM. When I start to get tired, I want to have one in my mouth. GIVE IT TO ME! But then sometimes I will get lazy or too sleepy to suck on it, so I'll let it fall out of my mouth. Once I realize it's gone, man I get upset! I want it back!!!! Thankfully someone is normally close to stick it back in my mouth for me. I try so hard to do it myself, but then I end up knocking it further away or on the ground. Dang it arms, please work for me. I'm trying here... So then someone will give it to me and then the whole cycle starts again. I'll get happy and then lazy and then lose it and then get upset and then get it back and then get happy and then lazy and then lose it and then get upset and then get it back and then get happy and then lazy and then lose it and then get upset and then get it back and then finally...I might fall asleep. It's a vicious cycle... To sum it up, I love my binky.

Comment away!

Hey guys, my mom tells me that lots of you are emailing her saying you are reading the blog and checking the photos. But that silly woman won't give me her email password, so I can't see what you are saying. There is a place after each post where you can leave comments here, and you don't have to a be a member of Blogspot or anything. Feel free to leave comments so I know what you like or don't like! Thanks!!!!

Vencil and Zelpha

Remember how all my family has strange names? Grant, Cuzaunt, Meani...to name a few? Well, two members of my family have real names that are a bit strange...Vencil and Zelpha. But despite their strange names, I love them dearly! They are my Great Grandparents on my mom's side. G Gpa is pretty sick and has a dialysis port on one arm, so I had to be careful when in his arms. Zelpha loves holding me, and I like her holding me because she rocks me to sleep! I'll go visit them whenever I can!

Anne Geddes Photo Shoot

I am starting to get used to mom's camera always in my face. Soon I might actually smile for her! But on March 12, we had our second photo shoot. Mom thinks she is Anne Geddes or something... Again, she got me almost naked, then placed me on top of towels. At least this time it wasn't so cold. Thank goodness it's spring now! Being born in winter is tough business!! Anyway, at the beginning of this photo shoot, I was sleeping, but the second they placed me on the towels I knew something was up. I instantly woke up and when I realized I was up in the air, I almost fell off the towels!! I was so scared I started to cry...and of course Mom was still taking photos!
Thankfully Dad was close by and he helped calm me down. He played around with me to cheer me back up! I love my daddy!!

And then they placed me back up on the towels and mom took a million and a half photos! Here's a couple...

Cold Stone Creamery!

Yummy, yummy, yummy, I got ice cream in my tummy. Well...um, not really. But I wish I did! On February 27, Meyer and I decided to get our mommies out of the house. I called up Meyer and asked him and his mom Alison to join Shelley and I at Granite City for lunch. I know it's a brewery, but I promised Mom that I wouldn't drink anything.

So we got to the restuarant, and I was happy to find that my carseat is so comfortable, because I fell asleep and stayed asleep during the whole lunch! But that's okay, because Meyer was sleeping too. So our mom's just chatted away.

After the lunch crowd cleared out, Meyer and I decided that we weren't ready to go home yet. So we begged our mom's to walk down to Cold Stone Creamery. Needless to say, it didn't take much convincing... I think they wanted the ice cream more than we did! But my silly mom forgot my stroller was in the Suburban and not the Honda, so she had to carry me. Little did she know, I asked Dad to put the stroller in the Suburban, because I wanted mommy to carry me. Good think Zona Rosa Shopping Center isn't too big, otherwise Mom might have said no to the ice cream.

After they ate their ice cream, Alison held me and I fell asleep in her arms... She sure knows how to hold a baby...Meyer is her third!!

Valentine's Diva!

On Valentine's Day, Grant Kathy came over to visit and give me chocolate. Okay, so I am just wishing she gave me chocolate... I think my mom ate chocolate though! Anyway, Grant Kathy brought me gifts!! She'd been shopping and bought me diva gifts!! I got new fancy sunglasses and a fancy headband!!

I'm a diva!!

I'm a big kid now!

Look at me mom! I'm a big kid now! Sing along! Kid sister, kid sister... Had to be a kid in the 80's to remember that commercial. I just know it because Mom sang it to me the other day. Anyway, everyone keeps saying I am growing up and getting big, so Mom took a picture to show how long I am now. But I didn't really want Mom to get the right picture, so I kept bending my knees up. That made mom laugh a lot...
Then that big ol' black dog, Dad calls him Turk, rushed me. But I know how to handle him, I just waved my hands and he backed off. He's knows who rules this house!

I rolled over!

On March 2, the day before the Nixa trip, my mom called Grandma Paulette to figure out all the arrangements. That's when Mom found out my cousin Clayton had rolled over, so she decided to test me! Sure I can type a blog...but can I roll over? Of course I can! She layed me down on a quilt and I rolled over three times for her! The third time she caught me mid-stream with a video. But I was just wetting her taste buds because I wouldn't do it again for almost three weeks!

Road Trip to Nixa!

All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go! I'm leaving... on a jet plane, don't know when I'll be back again. Well, okay, a Suburban is about the size of a jet plane, and I'll be back on Sunday night in time for Dad's weekly Halo game. Imagine with me...the Suburban is filled with Mom and Dad in the front seat, me in the middle seat, all the bags in the backseat and then Turk and Ophelia fill the luggage hold. Packed car...and that's just with one kid. What will Mom and Dad do when I have a kid brother or sister? I mean, I had two bags just for my weekend trip, the dogs have a bag... Think it's time for a bigger car... Um, what's bigger than a Suburban? I'm leaving on a jet plane, don't know when I'll back again.

The first weekend of April, I was supposed to go up to Des Moines for my big baby shower and to meet all of Dad's side of the family, but God had other plans. A blizzard hit Des Moines dumping massive amount of snow on the ground! They even closed the highways! You would have thought Des Moines was next to Denver or something. So instead, we traveled down to sunny Nixa, Missouri, to meet the rest of Mom's family. And boy oh boy did I meet them all! I was most excited to meet my newest cousin Clayton! He was born on January 22, the same day as my mom and Meyer! I think he was excited to meet me too.

And I got to meet my Great Grandpa Pruitt. He's been sick, but I think I cheered him up. I also got to meet my Great Aunt Cheryl and Great Uncle Joe; John and Heather and their twin boys Wes and Jordan; Billy and Kendra and their two girls Karly and Emma; Clayton's parents Jeremy and Lydia; and my Great Aunt Lisa and Great Uncle Bill. I just missed meeting Sarah and her two kiddo's Moriah and Caleb. But I did spend some time in Moriah's little rocking chair!
My mom was happy because she got to eat Springfield style Cashew Chicken, her favorite! She doesn't understand why Kansas City doesn't serve it...

First Bath

One day I was enjoying my tummy time and I looked down...WHOA...my cord fell off! And I knew that meant a submersion bath was soon to follow. Meyer had given me the low down, and I was pretty sure I knew I wouldn't like it. I had my mind made up already... Warm washcloth bath = good. Submersion bath = not good.

You see, it's cold outside. It's the middle of winter! Or at least it was on February 17th, the day the horrible event happened to me. I was minding my own business, when suddenly Dad picked me up and took away my warm clothes and blanket! Then he layed me in this blue tub and ran warm water over me!! NOT THE BATH!! And boy did I let Dad know I didn't like this whole bath thing. Meyer was right! I mean, the warm water felt great, but my arms and legs were flinging about because I can't control them yet. So they were out in the cold air. And my big head was above water... Man, I did not like it. I did not like it Sam I am.

Thankfully it lasted less than five minutes. Then Mom tried to warm me up in a towel. Another new experience! And Meyer didn't warn me about this one... I couldn't decide if I liked this or not, but I was all wrapped up in it, much like my blankets. Mom and Dad were rubbing the towell all over to dry me off, but I just couldn't stop crying. It was simply horrific. I'm terrified to think that eventually this will be a daily event!! OH NO!!!

Meeting Grandpa!

I'm so excited...I've been born into the best family! (even if they all do have strange names for themselves!) So far I've met my Grandma and Grandpa Pruitt; Grandma Marlene; Great Grandpa Vencil and Zelpha; and my Grant Kathy, John, Cuzant Katee and Ethan. But on Febrary 10th, I finally got to meet my other Grandpa! Grandpa Mark and my Uncles Myles came down for the day and hung out with me! I was so excited to meet them I just couldn't contain myself! I think I messed my diaper...

Okay, okay. So I did mess my diaper. I'm a baby, I'm allowed to do that! Don't laugh at me. As the excitement was winding down, I just savored the moment and enjoyed my time with Grandpa Mark and Uncle Myles.
