I'm a BIG SISTER!!!!!

On Tuesday, July 29th, at 7:51am my little brother was born!!! His full name is Jude Louis Darrow Churchill, big name for a little guy! Louis (said Louie) is my Dad's grandpa's first name and Darrow (said Dare-oh) is Pa Pa's last name. Jude weighed 7 pounds and 4 ounces, a cute little baby!

And I got a new baby, too! He is a Cabbage Patch Newborn and I take care of him while my parents are taking care of my new brother. I've been staying at the house with Grandma and Grammy.

Playing with Ophelia

This afternoon Mom, Ophelia and I were playing in the living room. I was trying on my sunglasses, which are big like all the Hollywood starlets. I was dancing around to my own music...
My mom was laughing at me though, because I kept putting them on to Ophelia!! And as you can see, I don't think Ophelia liked it too much....
Also, today is my Grandma's birthday!!!!!!!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!! She is driving down to my house tomorrow night, because on Tuesday my baby brother is going to be born!!!!!!

My first PB&J

Today I got to hang out with Dad all day! It was fun! He made me a PB&J for lunch, and he started to think that it was probably my first one. And since I started to make a mess of it and the camera was right there, Dad snapped some photos of me!
I love to feed myself now and get upset if someone else tries to feed me.
And thus, after each meal I typically have a lot of food on my face, in my hair, on my clothes...
I liked PB&J's!! More please!

Happy Birthday Dad!!

July 20th was my Dad's birthday!!! He had to work, but when he came home from work, Mom and I had served him his favorite - cheesecake!! I helped Mom make it...well, if you count licking the beaters after Mom mixed it up! And then I helped Dad blow out the candles!
Happy Birthday Dad!

Cousin William!

This past weekend my cousin William came down to play!! Grandma came along, too! We had a lot of fun playing together. I tried to share my toys, but then realized he was playing with them... But I didn't mind sharing my soon to be baby brothers things! We went out to dinner, too. I'm starting to show my independence and Dad had to take me a on a walk...

Artwork Forever on Display!

As my mom was helping me post the last couple of blogs, I decided to go play with some of the toys in the room... Mom was busy typing away putting words into my mouth on the blog (I told her to post the Horses post down below) I wandered into some of Grammy's things. Grammy loves purple.... And I found a beautiful purple marker!!! So I decided to color with it. So I crawled up on the chair in front of the table. There were some paper there, so I started to color on it.... But I wanted to color more.... So I ended up coloring on the entire table!!! Soon Mom was done posting the Horses post and realized she hadn't heard much noise from me. So she walked around the corner and I think literally her first words were, "Oh NO!!!!!! Daphne Rae!!!!" And then she spent the next 30 minutes scrubbing the table - and it still looks exactly the same... So this is officially my first artwork on display! When Grammy and Gramps come back into town on Sunday night, I wonder if they will like my artwork forever on display on their kitchen table....

Peanut Butter Jar

Whenever a peanut butter jar is finished, Ophelia gets the honor of finishing off the last bits. It's her all time favorite treat. While she finishes it, some funny noises happen. So I got down on my hands and knees to investigate. Everyone thought it was funny, because Ophelia and I were in this position for about 20 full minutes while she licked that entire jar clean!!!

Monkey

My dad started to call me "Monkey" some time ago... I don't really climb that much, but I do enjoy climbing on things. But Dad likes to call me Monkey. And here's a photo of reasons why... This position has become one of my favorite ways to watch TV...

Playing with the "Big Dogs"

My Gramps and Uncle John have several "Big Dogs". Some people call them horses. Most of the time they live up in the fields at Uncle John's house, but when they eat down those fields too much, we get to bring them up to our fields! Yesterday, they were moved up here. My parents wondered if I had really seem them up close and personal, because last summer I was still pretty small. So Gramps and Dad took me up to introduce me to Sonny (the one with the bald face), Midnight (obviously the black one) and Thunder (the paint).
At first I was pretty hesitant of them. They sure a lot bigger than any dog I know!! Dad was tickling Sonny's nose, so he was just a few inches it seemed from me. And gosh, I swear that animals head was bigger than my entire body!!! Since Sonny has a bald face (which means it's solid white fur from at least between eye to eye or more) one of his eyes is white. I kept looking at his one white eye... It reminded me of the scene in Lost in the first season when Locke has one white eye and one dark eye. That's my Gramp's horse!
Soon I wanted Mommy to hold me, but she can't hold me very long anymore. So she passed me off to Gramps. The horses started to eat, but I was enamored with them. I kept pointing at them and telling Gramps to "Look!"
So he called Thunder over to us. After watching the horses for some time now, I felt comfortable enough to touch one. Gramps told me it was just petting Peanut or Ophelia. So I slowly reached out my hand and touched Thunder...
And then it was on! I was ready to pet all the horses! Soon Sonny walked up and I touched his nose! I was surprised how soft horses are!
Maybe next summer I'll be big enough to ride them!!

New Fangled Chairs

My parents have several of these folding style chairs that are just too big for me, so they decided to get me and my soon to be baby brother some as well. I think they are pretty cute! I've already used it at an outdoor picnic wedding and of course for just horsing around in the backyard with my bubbles! Oh and here's just a photo of Mom and I.
And then Grammy bought a metal tub. It was on sale at the store and she came up with a list of 57 things she could do with it. I bet me sitting in it wasn't on the list!! But I love to sit inside it or turn it upside down and stand on top of it!

(Mom couldn't decide which picture she liked better - so you got blessed with me posting both of them)

4th of July!

4th of July was a great day! My parents both worked during the day time, so I hung out with my Grammy and Gramps a lot. And then after my mom was off work, we went outside to play. If you look at the Video post, you can see some of my fun action shots involving bubbles and snaps! Grammy and I were blowing bubbles and I was chasing them all over. We had to do them under the carport because it was so windy out in the grass the bubbles floated away too fast. Here's one reaction shot to bubbles!!! I guess we need to go to Wal-Mart and buy more bubbles!!! After all the bubbles were gone, I played fetch with Grammy's dog Peanut! I don't thow the ball very far, but I sure love doing it!
Soon it was time to start the homemade ice cream!!!! Yummmmmmm. I helped Gramps add the ice and salt as he stirred the mixture...
And then Mom and Gramps and I did some snaps. I really enjoyed them! If I couldn't get them to snap on the first throw, I would run over and pick it up and throw it again!
And then after we did all the snaps, I even ran around and picked up the snapped papers! I tried to see how many I could hold in my hand at once. Gramps just liked it because I did all the clean up and didn't know it!

And then after it got dark, Dad got home from work! Aunt Kathy and Uncle John came up to the house, too, and we had the best meal in the world!!! It was scrumpulucious! And of course, we followed it up by the ice cream Gramps and I made earlier! Dad had bought a few fireworks so we did a few of them and by that time, all the big shows were starting. We all pulled up chairs and watched in all directions. The local high school did a big show and so did a few subdivisions close by. And then we could see several other large shows from a distance. I was loving it! I would "Ooooh!" and point at them to make sure all the adults saw it too! And the loud noises didn't scare me at all. And then next thing I knew, I was asleep on Mom's shoulder...

What a great day!

Videos from 4th of July!

On the 4th of July, or Independence Day as my mom told me the whole story about some war way back before Pa Pa was even born that we won and gained our freedom from another country, my family celebrated with lots of good food, fireworks and homemade ice cream!!

But as you can see from this video....I really enjoyed the BUBBLES!!! In case you can't view it, Grammy would blow the leftover bubbles from my cousin Kim's wedding and I would just scream in delight!! Even stomping my feet in pure joy.

And then I really loved playing with the Snaps, too!! Mom would hand me one and I would throw it with all my might! And most of the time they actually would snap! If you have sound and can listen to it, the loud noise in the background is partly local fireworks and partly Gramps crunching up ice to use later to pack his homemade ice cream...

I love 4th of July!

My Own Apron!

I'm a big girl now!!! I have my very own Apron!! My Grammy's friend named Denise made me an apron! So now I can help out in the kitchen more. I already love to help empty the dishwasher - I'll hand my Mom the clean silverware. She likes it because it's hard for her to bend over right now being 9 months pregnant. And I like to be a helper! I'll wear my apron each time I am in the kitchen!

Funny Face

My Pa Pa likes to make a funny face to me... He opens his eyes as wide as he can and he opens his mouth, but tucks his lips under. At the same time, he sucks in his breath making an "hhhoooo" sound. And now I like to mimic this face! I tend to it when I'm excited or when people get laughing at me. And of course, when people make it to me, I'll return the face. And then normally erupt in laughter! And I love to do it in the mirror and then laugh at myself!!! Here's several views of the face....

I love these funny faces!

Des Moines Trip!

This past week while Dad was off work, him and I made a special trip up to Des Moines! We hadn't been up in awhile and we wanted to visit everyone! It was both of my great grandma's birthday's and my Grandpa's birthday! We got to spend time with them, and I got to see Grandma, Uncle Myles, Aunt Leah and my Cousin William! It was a great trip!
We went down and rode the Carousel one afternoon, too! I rode the first time around with Grandma.
Whew! It was fun!!! Look at us go!
Then I rode a second time on a Giraffe with Dad!
Here is my Cousin Lauren riding the Carousel, too! Great Grandma came with us too!One morning, I was playing with William. Here I am giving him a big hug!! I love to give hugs!
And then I also tried to share my sippy cup with William! Grandma was holding both of us and I was kind enough to offer my cup to him. And he liked it!
The trip was too short and soon we had to head home. I'm looking forward to seeing them all again in a couple of weeks when Grandma comes down for my Dad's birthday!

Thank You

I have a new phrase I can say, "Thank you!" I know the sign language, but I almost prefer to just say the words. And everyone thinks it's so cute when I say it, so I tend it say it at random moments as well.

Mom thinks it sounds like "Dane Kouw" or sometimes like "Dane Gouw". Maybe we can get a video of it and post it.

HIM Picnic

Both of my parents work in the HIM (Health Information Management) Department in a health system that spans across about 10 hospitals. So to bring all the department employees together, this past Saturday everyone got together for a picnic!! It was a gorgeous day outside, too! It was warm, but not to hot. And there was a nice breeze to keep the humidity down. I got to meet a lot of my parent's coworkers and their kids. A few of them I had met before and was anxious to play with them again!

For example, I've known Dan and Laura since I was born! I was so excited when they had Baby Oliver four months ago! And my parents recommended Dan get a job in their department, so he works with them now! I was happy to see Oliver at the picnic - even though I don't think he remembers seeing me there...

A kind lady named Sharon held me! And my mom had to document that on camera, because Miss Sharon swears up and down she won't ever have kids. But she sure snatched me up and told me how cute I was! She even told me she has my photo on her fridge at home! And another kind lady named Miss DeAnna held me too! Someone had brought their dog and I was very much looking forward to seeing this dog up close and personal! So Miss DeAnna carried me over. I liked her!
And then I tried to play badminton on a team with Dad. He was playing against their co-worker Lee and his wife Caitlin. I wasn't much help for Dad though...
So instead, I went over to play with Lee and Caitlin's son named Dylan! Dylan was born about a week and a half before me and our parents like to gab about us at work! I met Dylan several months ago for a playdate once and we had a lot of fun! I think he has a crush on me... While I was talking to Dylan, my friend Miss Audra came over to chit chat with us! She's the daughter of my parent's coworker Amy. And believe it or not, Audra and Dylan are cousins! I'd met Miss Audra several times and I really like her!
In fact, when we all decided to take a walk on the trail, I held Audra's hand the WHOLE time! This really shocked my mom, since I never let her hold my hand when we walk. I always have to be a big girl and walk by myself. Dylan walked with us, but I think he was back behind us when my mom took this photo. And you can see my Dad up ahead talking more with Dan and Laura pushing Oliver in his stroller!
The picnic was a lot of fun! I got to play with a bunch of other kids, too, but my mom didn't capture a lot of it on camera. The department heads said the picnic will become an annual event, so it will be fun to do this again next summer! Especially since my then, my baby brother will be approaching his first birthday!!
