Ever feel like playing cards? Well, then, you should get to know Roy and Marion! Starting way back in the 80's or 90's of LAST CENTURY (something I can't even fathom - before 2000? Before blogs? Before High Definition Television? Before the Gulf Wa...er, never mind on that one. Before cell phones? Before Xbox 360? Yes, before all these items exsisted, I cannot fathom (and my mother hangs her head in shame remembering Cabbage Patch Kids, Garbage Pail Kids, My Little Pony, Teenage Muntant Ninja Turtles, Batman...little does she know all these 80's toys are back right now!) Anyway...back to Roy and Marion. They raised three wonderful daughters and they taught them to love playing cards. These three daughters taught their friends to love playing cards...and that included my mother. So every Friday night teenagers from across Platte County would gather in their home and play cards until the wee hours of Saturday morning. This tradition still carries on today... despite the fact that two of the daughters don't live in Platte County anymore, the friends still come over to play. Well, and we've had to change venue. My mother would still occasion this sacred tradition on and off during her college years, then after marrying my daddy and moving back to PC, they both started attending. And now...I attend every Friday Night!
I love going to cards, because everyone plays with me too! Gabe plays with sick children everyday at Children's Mercy in the ER, so I think he loves when he gets to play with a well child like me occasionally...

And soon, he'll be playing with his own child!! Rach looks like she's showing both me off and her soon to be born son!! (oh, and in the above photo, it proves sometimes we stray from cards...here some of the guys are playing Risk...)

FNC is also a great place to get to play with other kids!! Meyer's older brother's Max and Myles used to be the only kids there...but now we have Meyer, me, and Liam! Liam is eight months old (if I remember correctly) and here his mommy is showing him off!

Sometimes we get graced by the presence of Elaina or Jason, too. And when the other two daughters of Roy and Marion come into town, I get to play with Elijah or Jake! Luckily, Elijah is in town right now and here he is with his mommy Misty! Doesn't Elijah look like his daddy Ninny, I mean Shawn, in this photo?

My mother, God bless her, is a photo-taking-fool. Always seems like she has that camera in her hands... But she's a scrapbooker so she feels the need to always have the camera handy in case something might happen. But of course she didn't have it handy when her and I got in the car wreck... Don't know if we want to document that one on paper though. But like my Cuzant Katee said, this blog is the scrapbook of this century... Back on track, my mom loves to get snapshots while holding the camera out with her arm and blindly taking photos of herself and friends. Sometimes heads get cut off or even the sides of friend's faces...but it's a long standing tradition, since back in the days of film photography. (what's that?) So here she is with Misty, then with Rachel and myself... (and I don't look too happy in mine, looks like I am glaring at mom for taking YET ANOTHER photo of me!)
